Tire, Wheel and Seasonal Storage by Garage Space Design

A set of tires is heavy, awkward and dirty. It deserves a rack. A tire rack holds tires upright and off the floor, and a wheel shelf keeps wheels and rims together. Seasonal items such as holiday decorations, summer outdoor gear and winter clothing need a home too.

We build a seasonal zone with sturdy shelves and uniform bins, labeled by color or icon so you can find the right one in seconds. Items used rarely go high, and heavy items stay low. Overhead racks take bulky bins and free the rest of the wall.

You may need this if

  • Spare tires are stacked in a corner
  • Holiday boxes take over the floor
  • You swap seasonal gear twice a year
  • You cannot find the right bin
How it works

From plan to finished.

The steps for tire, wheel & seasonal storage, in the order they happen.

  1. 01

    Inventory the seasonal items

Tires, holiday bins and gear are counted and measured.

  2. 02

    Place by weight and use

Heavy goes low, light goes high, rarely used goes overhead.

  3. 03

    Install racks and shelves

Tire racks, shelves and overhead units are fastened and loaded safely.

  4. 04

    Standardize and label

Uniform bins and labels make finding things quick.

Why it matters

What you get.

01

Tires off the floor

Racks keep rubber clean and your back safe.

02

Everything findable

Uniform, labeled bins end the dig through boxes.

03

Safe heavy storage

Low placement and proper racks reduce lifting risk.

04

Seasonal swap made easy

Switching decorations or tires takes minutes, not hours.

Be honest about fit

Is it right for your garage?

A good fit when

  • Multi-vehicle households
  • Families with holiday decor
  • Seasonal tire swaps

Worth knowing

  • Hot garages can affect stored rubber and plastics, so insulation helps.
  • Overhead storage needs clearances and solid joists.
Questions

Good questions about tire, wheel & seasonal storage.

How should I store tires?

Upright or stacked on a rack away from heat sources and direct sun. Mounted tires and loose tires are stored slightly differently.

Clear bins or opaque bins?

Clear bins show contents, while opaque ones look tidier. Labels help either way.

Where should seasonal items go?

High or overhead, since you reach for them only a few times a year.
