Pet Wash and Dog Station Garages by Garage Space Design

Muddy paws and wet fur are easier to deal with in the garage than in the mudroom. A dedicated station with a raised tub, a handheld sprayer and a drying area lets you wash a dog without bending over or flooding the floor.

We plan the plumbing with a licensed plumber, choose a non-slip, waterproof floor with a drain or slope, add hooks and shelves for towels and brushes and a cabinet for food and treats. A comfortable spot for the dog to rest finishes the zone.

You may need this if

  • Muddy paws track through the house
  • Washing the dog is a bending, soaking mess
  • You want to keep dog supplies together
  • You want a clean-up area after walks
How it works

From plan to finished.

The steps for pet wash & dog stations, in the order they happen.

  1. 01

    Choose the location

The station goes near the entry and the water supply, with room to move around the dog.

  2. 02

    Plan the water

A plumber adds supply and drain, and the floor is sloped or drained.

  3. 03

    Select surfaces

Waterproof walls, a non-slip floor and sturdy fixtures are chosen for constant wet use.

  4. 04

    Add storage and comfort

Hooks, shelves, a treats cabinet and a dog bed corner complete the zone.

Be honest about fit

Is it right for your garage?

A good fit when

  • Dog owners
  • Homes with muddy yards
  • Active families

Worth knowing

  • Water use requires proper plumbing and drainage, handled by qualified trades.
  • Wet zones need materials that resist moisture and mold.
Questions

Good questions about pet wash & dog stations.

Do I need a drain?

A drain makes cleanup easy, though a sloped floor and a pump or a large tub drain can work in some garages. A plumber can advise.

What floor is best?

A coated floor with grip, or tile with a textured finish, handles water and gives traction.

Can a dog station fit in a small garage?

Yes. A compact corner with a wall-mounted sprayer and a shower area can do the job.
