Getting started

What does a garage design company do?

We plan and install the things that make a garage work: a layout, a floor system, cabinets, shelving, overhead storage, wall systems, lighting and specialty zones such as a workbench or gym.

Do I need a full makeover or can I start with one thing?

You can start with any single piece, such as a floor or a cabinet wall. A plan helps so that today’s project fits the rest of the garage later.

How do I get a design started?

Call 800-290-5816 or send the form on this page. Tell us about your garage and what you want it to do, and we will suggest the next step.

Do you serve my city?

We have a page for 75 cities across the country. Find yours on the service areas page, and if it is not listed, call and ask.

Cabinets and storage

What is the best material for garage cabinets?

It depends on the climate and the use. Steel is strong, polymer and aluminum resist moisture, and stainless is premium. Our cabinet material comparison lays out the tradeoffs.

How much storage do I need?

Start with an inventory of what you own. Our Storage Zone Planner turns that list into wall, shelf and overhead needs.

Can overhead racks be installed in any garage?

Most, provided the ceiling structure can carry the load and the racks clear the door and opener. We check this before designing.

Are garage cabinets worth it compared with shelves?

Cabinets hide clutter and protect contents from dust and children, while shelves are cheaper and flexible. Many garages use both.

Floors

What is the difference between epoxy and polyaspartic?

Both are coatings. Polyaspartic cures faster and resists UV and hot tires well, while epoxy is more forgiving to apply. Many systems use both. See our comparison guide.

How long does a garage floor coating take?

Fast-curing systems can be done in a day or two, while traditional systems take longer. The product determines when you can walk and drive on it.

Do I need to test for moisture?

Yes. A moisture test before any coating avoids the most common failure, which is blistering or peeling from vapor coming through the slab.

What if my floor is cracked?

Cracks are repaired and the slab is ground before any finish goes on. This step decides how long the floor lasts.

Planning and cost

How much does a garage makeover cost?

It depends on size, the floor system, cabinet length and material and any electrical work. Our cost guide and tools give planning ranges, and a measured plan gives the real number.

Can I phase the project?

Yes. Do the floor and walls first, then storage, then specialty features. A plan keeps the phases consistent.

How long does a full garage project take?

It depends on scope and floor cure time. We give a realistic schedule once the plan is set.

Do you offer free estimates?

Yes. We offer a free design consultation and estimate for garage projects.
