Decorative Flake and Metallic Garage Floors by Garage Space Design

Chip flake floors are built by scattering colored vinyl chips across a wet base coat until the surface is fully covered. The chips hide imperfections, add subtle texture for grip and create endless color blends from calm gray to bold multicolor. A clear topcoat locks it in.

Metallic floors use pigments that swirl through the resin, producing marbled, three-dimensional effects that shift in the light. Each one is unique. Whichever you choose, the floor is sealed with a durable clear coat for easy cleaning and lasting shine.

You may need this if

  • You want the floor to be the centerpiece
  • Your slab has patches or stains that a solid color would show
  • You are building a car or lifestyle garage
  • You want a floor that hides dust well
How it works

From plan to finished.

The steps for flake & metallic floors, in the order they happen.

  1. 01

    Pick the look

Use the Design Studio and physical samples to select a flake blend or a metallic color story.

  2. 02

    Prepare the slab

Grinding, crack repair and priming create the foundation for the decorative layer.

  3. 03

    Apply the decorative layer

Flake is broadcast to rejection, or metallic pigments are worked in by hand for the pattern.

  4. 04

    Seal for protection

One or more clear topcoats add depth, shine and chemical and wear resistance.

Why it matters

What you get.

01

Hides imperfections

Flake blends mask small slab flaws and everyday dust and dirt.

02

One-of-a-kind finish

Metallic floors are unique, and no two look exactly alike.

03

Added traction

The texture of flake gives a little more grip than a smooth solid coat, and grip additives can be added.

04

Matches any style

From neutral grays to bold colors, there is a blend for every design.

Before and after: stained concrete to flake floor

After: the same floor repaired and coated in glossy gray and charcoal flake
Before: a cracked, oil-stained, peeling concrete garage floor

Be honest about fit

Is it right for your garage?

A good fit when

  • Showpiece and car garages
  • Slabs with visible imperfections
  • Anyone who wants a custom look

Worth knowing

  • Metallic floors need skilled hand finishing, so patterns vary from the sample.
  • Very bold colors can show wear differently from neutral blends.
Questions

Good questions about flake & metallic floors.

What is the difference between flake and metallic?

Flake is a layered chip finish with a speckled look and texture. Metallic is a smooth, marbled finish with depth and movement.

Which hides dirt best?

A full-broadcast multicolor flake is the most forgiving. Solid and light metallic colors show more.

Can I have a custom blend?

Yes. Many blends can be adjusted, and we can mock up a few options for comparison.
