01 What wall-hung means
Wall-hung cabinets are fixed to the wall on rails or brackets, with the floor clear underneath. A mop can pass beneath, snow melt can drain and the coated floor shows. They look light and modern.
Because the wall carries the weight, the installation must be done correctly into studs or masonry.
02 What floor-standing means
Floor-standing cabinets rest on legs or a plinth and are leveled and fixed to the wall to stop tipping. They carry heavy loads easily because the floor takes the weight. They are the most common choice for heavy tool storage.
Adjustable feet handle uneven slabs. A plinth keeps the bottom edge off wet floors.
03 The hybrid approach
Many designs mix both: floor-standing base cabinets for the heavy tools, wall-hung uppers for lighter items and a floating cabinet near the car side. This balances capacity, cleaning and clearance.
It is also an easy way to add a different finish for the uppers.
04 How to choose
Choose wall-hung when the floor needs to be clear or you sweep and wash often. Choose floor-standing for heavy loads or uneven walls. Check the wall construction in either case, and avoid mounting into drywall alone.

? Common questions
Which is stronger?
Floor-standing units usually carry more because the floor takes the load. Wall-hung units can be very strong when anchored correctly.
Which is easier to clean around?
Wall-hung cabinets, since you can sweep and mop under them.
Can I mix both?
Yes. Many garages use standing bases with hung uppers.
